Mad about Design at Operae in Torino


Hello design lovers! This weekend Turin is the site of  Operae, the festival of independent and self-design, an exhibition  comes now with great success in its sixth edition.
For three days, from 6 to 8 November, in Turin Exhibition, you can meet new Italian and international talents of design, discover products and collections and participate in meetings and workshops.
In Operae, creativity, art and the future are the main protagonists everywhere.

Ciao design lovers! Questo weekend Torino è la sede di Operae, il festival del design indipendente e autoprodotto, una evento ormai giunto con grande successo alla sua sesta edizione. Quest'anno Operae ha luogo in contemporanea ad Artissima e Paratissima, altre due manifestazioni legate all'arte organizzate nel capoluogo piemontese.

Celebrating the Earth Day


Mad about Design dedicates today's post to the celebration of Earth Day and for the occasion chose as the protagonist the lamp Fulll Circle Vision of Atmosphere created by designers from Tools Design Claus Jensrn and Henrik Holbaek.
Full Circle Vision is a globe with a diameter of 30 cm and equipped with aluminum base. The political cartography in English language and minimal design is available in four colors: silver, midnight blue, almond, black sea and land silver.
This impressive lamp is able to bring us back to our childhood memories when we studied geography in school with the help of a map of the world and dreamed to know many places when we become old.

Happy birthday Tour Eiffel!


Happy birthday Tour Eiffel!
Today the symbol of Paris is126 years old and Mad about Design celebrate the event with a post dedicated to the  floor lamp Tour Eiffel created by the designer Arnaud Anseeuw in 2012 for Qui est Paul?.
Tour Eiffel, the lamp with shape of famous Parisian tour, is realised in poliethylene
 Tour Eiffel, a floor lamp with the shape of the famous Parisian tower, is made of fully recyclable polyethylene and is suitable for indoor and outdoor environments. This lamp combines the originality of sculptural appearance to its functionality. But who are its manufacturer? The French company Qui est Paul? was born in 2007 and specializes in offering innovative objects characterized by a striking , sober and minimalist design which follows from their creation to their complete achievement.

The light in a glass ball

 
Hello my dear design lovers! Today I present  you Mykonos, a lamp born from the creativity of the designer Ernesto Gismondi for Artemide.
The main characteristic of Mykonos is its diffuser in transparent blown glass in significant size where it contains inside a light bulb. A light bulb contained in a stylish glass sphere supported by a base and a stem in polished chromed metal. Miconos emits a diffused and delicate light and it is able to adapt to different environments thanks to its versatility and sophistication.
Mykonos is available in several options: wall, ceiling, table and floor lamps for an amazing and refined result.

Light and steel

A triumph of light and steel for Cadmus, the floor lamp made ​​by Canadian designer Karim Rashid for Artemide. Cadmus, characterized by the body entirely bright, emittes indirect light upward and diffuse light downward with adjustable intensity. The lamp is made ​​of painted steel, available in white, black and red with white interior. Sinuous and elegant Cadmus complete the decor complementing the main light in a room. Happy birthday Bourgie!


 
Bourgie Happy Birthday! The table lamp protagonist of this post, created by designer Ferruccio Laviani for Kartell, this year celebrates 10 years. 
Bourgie revisits a baroque table lamp with a contemporary key, combining the style of a lamp of IXX century with a modern material such as polycarbonate transparent or dyed. The base is richly decorated with volutes and the large lampshade is made with a pleated effect, to create a play of light when it is turned on. The transparency of the material and its processing at the highest level, make it seem that the lamp is made ​​of a precious material such as glass. 
Thanks to a special coupling system on the hat, you can customize Bourgie cleansing it in the height you prefer. 
This beautiful work of design is suitable as a decorative lamp, table or office and at any place will always give a touch of elegance and irony that distinguishes it.

Lighting veils

 
Hello my dear design lovers! The protagonist of today is Veli, a graceful lamp created by the designer Adriano Racheli for Slamp .This lamp has a special place in my heart because it is the chandelier in my bedroom. Do you find it wonderful, don't you?This handmade lamp is made up of dozens of veils that cross over each other drawing graceful and harmonious shapes .Thanks to its originality and its way of reinterpreting the concept of modern lighting, Veli was also awarded with the prestigious Red Dot Design Award Honourable Mention.Veli is available in two different materials, both patented by Slamp: the Opalflex and Lentiflex.The first is used for the production of the classic series Veli , while the second is used for the realization of the particular series Veli Prisma. The Opalflex is a material obtained by mixing polymers and glass for a result very bright, while the Lentiflex filters the light giving fascinating reflections.Veli is available in ceiling or suspended, both in different sizes and many colors: opal , plum, charcoal, blue, chilli, russet to adapt perfectly to your environment.

Circle of light




An irregular ellipse from which comes a seraphic light, this is the table lamp Anisha built by Studio Lievore Altherr Molina for Foscarini. 
The three designers of Barcelona have created this lamp with a distinctive identity as a fluid and enveloping frame who can almost hypnotize the person who looks at it. 

Anisha outlines an empty space and filling it with a directed downward soft led light. Made of injection molded ABS, Anisha is available in two colors, white, to blend in with the surrounding space, and red, for a strong and recognizable presence. Due to its minimal lines, it perfectly suits to the different rooms of your home or your office, whom will always give a touch of sophistication both turned on or off.

Fluctuating pepples

Hello my dear design lovers! The protagonist of today's post is Mercury, the wonderful chandelier designed by Ross Lovegrove for Artemide. This chandelier with a modern design is composed of an aluminum disk under whom fluctuate a serie of light of  pepples. The smooth and biomorfic surface of the pebbles  reflects the light bouncing and creating beautiful light games. Mercury has a great charm even in the daytime when it is off, in fact the object reflects the movements of people around and the natural light. Mercury also has a smaller version, Mercury Mini, and both are available with halogen or LED illumination.

A sculpture of light

This contemporary sculpture really is the amazing lamp Vertigo by the designer Marco Acerbis for Fontana Arte. Vertigo is a lamp made in bended and polished alluminium in order to create a magnific mirror effect. Its faceted shape makes beautiful light games and a regulator allow to choose the indirect light intensity. Vertigo has a black matt base in steel with a pin for the rotation. This lamp can make sophisticated every room thank to its beauty and elegance.
