Diagolinea, la libreria che sfida la forza di gravità

 

Hello my dear design lovers! The protagonist of today is DiagoLinea by Lago Design, a very special library suitable for design living rooms, offices, bedrooms and bathrooms. The main feature of DiagoLinea is its dynamic system of shelves that disrupts the rules of gravity and geometry.
The shelves of this unstructured library support each other, taking unexpected inclinations and underline more the "zero gravity" effect  can be inserted invisible bookends .
The unique wall mounting allows the individual elements of DiagoLinea to rotate on themselves in order to change the compositions during the time and having an always new library.

Happy birthday Coconut Chair!

 

Hi my dear design lovers! Today post is a tribute to Coconut Chair created by the designer George Nelson for Vitra in the year 1955, which this year celebrate 60 years old.

 The designer George Nelson compared the armchair with a coconut cut into eight parts, though he reversed the colours: the outer shell of the Coconut Chair is white, while the one-piece cushion is covered with high-quality leather or fabric in a variety of colours.

Coconut Chair has a simple and ironic shape, typical of 50es design and its spacious shape creates an inviting and comfortable armchair that wrap the sitter.

Makastool, la seduta a forma di macaron

Do  you know the famous macarons? These colorful French sweets  inspired the Makastool, the fun stools born from the intuition of Li-Ving, the design studio founded by Antonio Lauriola, Nicola Troiano and Vito Vero.
When I saw for the first time Makastool, I immediately thought to dedicate it a post and so, I discovered that behind this cute colored stool, there is a complete design studio that deals with the creation, implementation and sale of handcrafted self-produced design pieces of furniture .
Makastool are available in two different heights and in different shades: purple, chocolate, lime green, blue, lemon yellow ...
The Makastool are completely handcrafted in all its components, from the legs in ash to the seat covered in leather or microfibre.
And you which Makastool choose? Chocolate, pistachio, violet, vanilla!

Mayflower, un fiore gigante nel salotto

Hello design lovers! The protagonist of today's post is Mayflower, the delicious flower shaped seat that the French designer Fabrice Berrux created for Roche Bobois.
This giant flower decorates with irony and brings spring into your home all year. The corolla of petals form the seat of Mayflower and is available in a wide range of neutral or psychedeliccolors. Mayflower has an internal structure in wood and chipboard with foam padding and an outer coating in three variants: jersey, velor or leather.
Mayflower is a seat that won't pass unnoticed and all guests will line up to try it.

A tree for your books

Hello my dear design lovers! The protagonist of today is the iconic library Tree, Poltrona Frau designed by Gianfranco Frattini.
Conceived in the late '50s, Tree library is a land-ceiling functional and sculptural style, with structure in solid walnut.
The library by Frattini differs to the others from the complex work of craftsmanship but especially the originality of its structure, thanks to a pin can be rotated 360 °.
The library is not more placed against a wall but becomes the main character of a space. The bookcase becames a sculpture and the books are accessories to adorne it

Stripes

Stripes is the mirror protagonist of today's post. This wall mirror from designer Paolo Cattelan is composed of strips of mirrored glass combined.
At first glance, Stripes seems to be broken and this feature makes it an original mirror of great personality.
This unusual mirror from different shapes and sizes does not go unnoticed and decorates in a refined environment where it is placed.

Time is a spinning record

  Hello design lovers! This post is dedicated to all those who love vinyl records and vintage. However, you don't need any turntable for these 45s, because they are original wall clocks of the Karlsson line.
Made of plastic material, Spinning Record Oldies, Timeless Record Spinning and Spinning Record Groovie 70's have their minute hand in the shape of the movable arm of an old turntable. But their most striking feature is the rotating movement of the clock, for a full effect from true vintage vinyl turntable on the wall of your home.

Today we play Sciangai

Hello my dear design lovers! Hands up who has never played sciangai as a child! But Sciangai is also the name of one of the most famous Italian design hanger at the international level. Designed in 1973 for Zanotta by designers De Pas, D'Urbino and Lomazzi, this collapsible clothes hanger inspired by the ancient Chinese game. Each timber element of Shanghai is at the upper end support for hats, bags or capispalla. Available in beech, natural or painted black or natural oak, wenge stained, dyed gray or white.

Is there really a barcode on this pillow?

Barcodes, mushrooms, flowers, maps and fashion are the themes of these beautiful pillows by the Danish designer Trine Andersen. The entire range is characterized by a graphic design impact on the contrast black and white for a contemporary and elegant result. The cushions have the front side in natural linen and cotton backing with a high-quality padding in goose feathers. Due to their slender rectangular shape, they give a touch of class to your sofa.

Unusual intersection

 

My dear design lovers today we are again in the presence of a Good Design Award, Big Table by Belgian designer Alain Gilles for Bonaldo has in fact won the award in 2009.
Big Table is a large functional table with a strong personality thanks to the extremely original design from the unusual intersection and the inclination of the legs.
 The Big Table legs are laser cut steel and matt painted each with a different width that highlights the different shades.
Different color combinations are available: white , anthracite gray, multicolored (red coral , orange, green and purple) and a combination of brown ( pale pink, taupe, brown and amaranth ).
The rectangular top is also available in different materials: white matt lacquered , walnut, solid American walnut , brushed oak anthracite, brushed natural oak, black or white frosted glass, or white or anthracite gray ceramic.
Big Table is the proof that even with traditional materials such as steel, wood and glass it's possible to produce a table definitely out of the ordinary, thanks to the creative mind of a great designer.

A medieval king and queen in your home

Hello my dear design lovers! Do you remember the legend of the Knights of the Round Table of King Arthur with his beloved Queen Guinevere? The designer Charles Bargagna was inspired by this famous story to create the nice tables Arthur and Guinevere for Officinanove. Arthur is slightly higher than Guinevere and the profile of its base remind the king of chess piece while the base of Guinevere reminds the queen. Arthur looks at its best when it's accompanied by his beloved Geneva, preferably of a different color. Both tables are created by assembling two plates coated steel shaped to create the base and the table top and can be used both as a table next to a armchair or a sofa in the living area and both as a nightstand in the bedroom . 

So original and colorful, do not you think they are a good couple?

Contemporary and baroque

Baroque and contemporary design together for the romantic Proust armchair designed by Alessandro Mendini for Magis. Proust is based on the original design of the Proust Chair, the most famous creation ever designed by Mendini in 1978. About thirty years ago, the Italian designer had reinterpreted in a chair in the French Baroque style of the eighteenth century painting  wood and upholstery, and adapting the shape and decoration in the style of the current year. Today the Proust Chair is again revised in accordance with the contemporary fashion, wood and upholstery disappear to give way to the polyethylene in bright colors. Even its target changes, in fact, a chair designed to be a work of art produced in a few pieces at the end of the 70s, now becomes a chair dedicated to everyone thanks to Magis.

Assymetry in a table

My dear design lovers today we are in the presence of a Good Design Award Chicago Atheneaum. N7 is the table of the designer Norayr Khachatryan for Casamania. N7 is a table of the challenging and determined construction. The complexity of its structure is given by the faceted and asymmetric shapes and the technique of bending the sheet of aluminum. Its design, inspired by military language, combines sobriety and functionality. N7 is a table suitable for both the living room of a home or an office and always gives  the sophistication and rigor that characterize it.

Happy birthday The Original di Fatboy! One of the most famous pouf is ten years old and it doesn't show its years.The Original is available in wide range of colours, updated during the years in order to follow fashion. The Original is very versatile and it is suitable in every room, from the sitting-room to the bedroom, from the garden to the office. This pouf can give a touch of colour end lightness to every place, also the most serious or minimal one. Moreover The Original is useful to create a seat near a sofa or a bed. The Original is made of 330 liters EPS little balls in order to follow your shape and offer a comfortable and cushy seat.
